Reimagining Refugee Re-integration Programs
In a world where war, conflict, and natural disasters are causing forceful family disintegration and displacement, there are continued calls for effective community integration programs to ease the transition process for refugees. Young people have been disproportionally affected in the process...
Our Story
Have you ever felt saddened yet frustrated by the experiences of another that you frantically step out of your comfort zone to make life easier for them? That pretty much sums up how Friends Beyond Borders (FBB) started.

FBB was founded by a group of 3 purpose-driven global citizens (Juliana, Joanne, & Nadira) with lived experience in Afghanistan, Indonesia, Korea, Mongolia, Zimbabwe, and the USA. Having witnessed and experienced the impact of settling in new communities as refugees and migrants, we realized how essential it was to develop youth-centric programs which support the successful integration of young people into new host areas.

With a focus on advancing access to higher education for young refugees, FBB works closely with community partners across Massachusetts to provide educational resources tailored to the needs of refugees. Unlike typical government-sponsored reintegration programs, FBB provides long-term support for more than a year to ensure that students are well capacitated to succeed in the US education system.

Through mentorship, career guidance, and shadowing programs, young refugees have a better chance of advancing their education and securing better life opportunities in the future.

All this is possible through harnessing the power of “Joy Through Connections.”
